The teaching of Literacy at Gwynne Park Primary School is based on research backed, whole school programs taught with fidelity throughout the school. In the early years, synthetic phonics is taught through the "Letters and Sounds" program, backed by "Minilit" for intervention and "Talk for Writing" to push the creativity of all students' writing. Upper years continue to learn spelling and reading patterns using “Soundwaves” while teaching comprehension skills and depth of understanding using the “Talk for Reading” approach. All staff are kept up to date with professional development, and regular feedback and observations help improve teaching practice. Planning is also completed collaboratively to maintain consistency across year levels.
